Hedström rides ’Olga’ at Strängnäs

2012 ERC series Škoda campaigner Peter Hedström has been to the Strängnäs Motorstadion near Stockholm for his first test drives of the former Michael Jernberg Fabia Mk2 Supercar without being hampered by snow. ERC24’s Qba Nitka, who thought up the new livery design for the car, checked with the Swede about the outcome of the tests.

Qba: ”Where have you been too and whats been happening?”

PH: ”We were in Strängnäs, just a few Swedish Miles [1 Swedish Mile = 10kms] from Stockholm. I and the car immediately became friends. However, the test driving came to an early halt when the engine gave up. But I’m not worried about that as the engine is with Trollspeed now and will be in top condition before Lydden Hill. We just tried a bit too close to its borderline, you know.”

Qba: ”Does the Mk2 differ much from the Mk1 and is the new model the better one?”

PH: ”Hard to say as I was not able to run it long enough before the engine cried stop. But ’Helga’ is and will always be ’Helga’. I remember the first laps I did with ’Helga’ I drove around with a smile on my face because she was so easy to drive. Therefore, it is hard to say right now of which one is the better car.”

Qba: ”The nickname of the older car is ’Helga’, does the Mk2 Fabia has already a tag?”

PH: ”I do not know if ’she’ already had a name before, but I baptised her ’Olga’ now.”
