Peter Hedstrom

Hedström outlines plans for two year ERC campaign

The Swede Peter Hedström announced his preparations for next season during a press conference in Anttila, south of Höljes in Sweden today.

After recently revealing his full return to the ERC in 2012, today Peter Hedström outlined his final plans during a press conference in which he confirmed his cars and sponsors. The purchase of the ex-Michael Jernberg Skoda Fabia and the Skoda Fabia of Jochen Coox were confirmed. The ex-Jernberg Fabia will be the primary car, with the Coox Fabia being used for sponsorship events, drivers training and to be rented out to other drivers. Hedström also announced the strong support and cooperation of a former ‘Rallycrosser’. It has been claimed elsewhere by our own sources that the secret supporter is former ERC Champion, Olle Arnesson. Arnesson gained the European Championship title in 1979, 1980, 1983 and 1986. Although, Hedström has failed to reveal to ERC24 whether this information is to be believed, and informs us that the individual wishes to remain anonymous. Hedström will run in all events in the ERC and also compete in the Swedish Rallycross Championship.

“One car is race ready and will be showcased during the Rally Sweden, there will be a minimum of two years with this investment,” says Peter.

Hedström announced his biggest sponsor to be ”Autoexperten”. The Swedish ASN is also known to be in support of Hedström’s ERC pursuit as Peter is a part of their Carsport talent project, and has been announced as being included in the Swedish Automobiles Association’s National Rally and Rallycross team

Hedström only managed to compete in a string of ERC events last season due to poor finance and poor sponsorship support. But with strong support and the backing of two well prepared cars Hedström will have high hopes for next season. He is set to be the only Swede competing in a full Supercar season next year, and will be looked upon with high expectations. A one day test has been arranged before Lydden hill round one, and Peter regains confidence in himself, “ A medal in European Championships and National Championships is the goal.”
