Peter Hedstrom

Peter makes B-Final in Hungary

The team headed to the Nyirádi Motorsport Centrum in Nyirád, Hungary to contest the fourth round of the European Rallycross Championship.

The Hungarian round of the series played out in dry and hot conditions, on a track which is highly technical, fast and notoriously challenging. Many regard the circuit to be one of or if not the best track in the European series.

Peter’s performance in Saturday morning’s free practice sessions was consistent, smooth and increasingly fast. And Peter quickly got to grips with the highly technical circuit.

When it counted, Hedström continued to improve his performance. Hedström was classified as 9th fastest during Sunday’s second heat and looked to be in great shape for a position in the C or B Final.

A slightly slower time gained in heat three (11th fastest) awarded the Swede for his consistency and gave him a place in the highly competitive C-Final. Starting in pole position, Hedström was the best starter, and drove a great race to finish in the top two, and thus qualifying for the highly fought SuperCar B-Final.

”I found the circuit difficult to find the braking points on, and when we had problems in the first practice I missed the run and valuable training time. I had never driven the track before, but we ended up eventually in the B finals which I am both satisfied and dissatisfied with. If the engine had not started to experience problems then I would have been a few placements further up, and maybe even made the A final,” concluded the ‘Auto-Experten’ driver.

“I’m starting to find myself in the car now and it’s getting faster and faster, I look forward to Norway and Sweden, and mostly to Sweden and my home track,” said Hedström.
