Last Saturday the final round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship went over the Kinnekulle Ring near Götene and, at the end of the day, saw Peter Hedström (Škoda Fabia Mk2) claiming the 2012 SRC SuperCars title from Stig-Olov Walfridsson (Renault Clio Mk3) and Kenneth Hansen (Citroën DS3).
“The whole event was flawless for me. I set the fastest times in Timed Practice as well as in both the first two Qualifying Heats. Thereby I had already ensured myself of the Pole Position for the all decisive A final, but went out for a test drive in the third runs once more where “Stecka” [Stig-Olov Walfridsson] was the fastest driver. In the A final it was also perfect all the way from the pole to the chequered flag for me. Within no time I had a clear lead and sometimes even an advantage of up to 50 Meters against first “Rådis” [Thomas Rådström in the spare car of Peter Hedström, who dropped back to sixth place after half the A final distance] and later “Stecka”, so it was really a great victory for me,” said Hedström after the event that was attended by almost 6,000 spectators.
Gold medal: Peter Hedström; Silver medal: Stig-Olov Walfridsson; Bronze medal: Kenneth Hansen.
