Peter Hedstrom

Ups and downs

Although it was another one of these races with more downs than ups Swede Peter Hedström is not really annoyed about Round 2 of the FIA European Rallycross Championship (RX). The event was held in the almost 1,000 metres above sea-level situated town of Montalegre in the farthest north of Portugal and was widely influenced by mixed weather. Sunshine as well as snowfalls at the end of April, the temperatures just a little above 0 °C all weekend.

In the first heat Peter drove his fastest qualification time, making it to eighth best of the 19 SuperCar competitors, while in the second runs and being in the lead of his group he had to give up due to another teething problem of the new Škoda Fabia Mk2. In the third heat Peter was tenth and in the fourth runs he was number twelve. Being allowed to start in the first of the two semi-finals Peter found himself soon with his rear brakes not sufficiently working and the fourth place here was just not enough for to enter the main final (only the first three finishers of both semi-finals are qualified for the last race of the event).

“Although the weekend did not end with great results, I’m nevertheless happy! We got the car ready in time and did some good laps down here. We need a little more time with the car, and I’m certain that better results will follow. Therefore, I’m looking forward to the next race now”, said Peter before travelling back to Sweden and his home town of Torsby.
